Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1. While I have no proof of E.T. I believe it would be arrogant to assume that it doesn't exist.
2. We should transmit a signal much like the signal that we are searching for simply because it is a marker that will show that life was here. It should be transmitted from space to make the most of signal strength. The direction can be on a rotating basis from a directional antenna that rotates over a predictable period in order to cover a wider target area. A simple signal containing a sequence of prime numbers followed by a few 'universal' formulae would probably be a good starting point. Since we don't have any other common ground to begin with it seems math would be the best beginning.
3. I run SETI@home to assist in this vital search. I have the comuter running 24/7 anyway and it seems a good use of the power that I have. |
