Personal background
I'm a vision impaired (RP, that one from the Don Burke commercial for all you Australian residents). I live in Darwin, Australia and I do volunteer work (Data entry) for Parks and Wildlife. I spend most of my free time either on the computer, reading books or watching TV. I want to start doing electronics if my eyes would allow me.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I got a pretty good idea that there's something out there but doubtful if they're at the same level as us and close by. I think we'd probably find life in our solar system than outside (fingers crossed for Europa). A beacon's not necessary, all our radio and TV signals should be enough. Although It's a bit troubling that one of the first picture signal would probably be Hitler. I came across SETI@Home on Tomorrow's World on the National Geographic channel, they we're describing how they're starting to get short on computing power so I thought I'd do my part, that and I'm just plain curious.
