| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1. Extraterrestrial life exists..... no doubt. The intelligent part of life in space will be discovered, I think, by radiosignals. But because of the distance it will be 100s or 1000s of years old, so even if we reply, the recieving part will most likely have forgotten about ever sending their own signal, there will be no one left to listen or maybe the other part part have shut down their telescopes because they have given up.....
2. Yes, I think we should set up a powerful radio beacon. It might give the answer about whether we are alone, to another species that has asked the same question. It's like we would like to find such a beacon if another lifeform set it up. Maybe not to answer the ancient signal, but to be confirmed that we are not alone.
3. I run SETI@home because I think it would be wonderful to help discovering the beacon that sends a signal to earth, so I know that we are not alone. |
