Personal background
Well, I am 40 something with a family. I was born in Vancouver BC, Canada and I have lived in the area my whole life (so far). I've always been interested in science and Science Fiction and astronomy is one of my hobbies.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, I do think extraterrestrial life exists. I can't say when, but I think we may have already discovered (evidence at least) that it exists. I think the benefits or dangers of such a discovery could be predicted by looking at the intermingling of species or organisms on our own planet.

2. Yes, I think humans should transmit a beacon for others to find. Well, I think we sould at least give out our phone number/email address, so that whoever hears us can reciprocate.

3. I run SETI at home to assist in the analysis for this project. I also think, however slim the chances, that it would be incredibly exciting to be the first one to discover evidence of extraterrestrial life. I think the project is very important to the human race, but I also think it is a very controversial issue for those who do not believe that extraterrestrial life exists, either out of religious beliefs or for other reasons.
