Personal background
Name's John T. Cannom. I'm intending to become a film director, but in the meantime I'm an engineer. I'm quite science-prone, and the SETI could not pass without catching my eye. I'm also of the fantastic-romantic type, so there you got me. My activity is centered in fiction (I shoot short movies and -try to- write novels), and my hobbies range from playing the violin to kendo (japanese fencing).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe there is alien life out there but it could take hundreds of thousands of years for our civilizations to contact. I like the SETI project because it says something about human nature: We are searching for something we don't know how does it looks like, where to find it, or if it even exists! Lovely! What's more, I would love to see our kind send messages out to space. Maybe natural-coded prime numbers would be a start, as suggested by C. Sagan in Contact.
