Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1. Life out there? Yes, it does exist. But not the way we imagine it.
2. Sending beacons? Why not? Chances of having some other "SETI" on the galaxy are about 1*10e-30. Chances that that SETI project is good enough to get the signal, at the right time, are 1*10e-35. But an impossible thing is just something we haven't tried yet.
3. Why do I run SETI? Because humans like to belong to groups. And i'm giving my computer a better usage. Even if we can't find "life" out there, SETI will give many investigation teams a precious set of information. |
