Personal background
I'm an electrical engineer working in field instrumentation. My main hobby is amateur radio (AC7KN). I have almost reached my goal for a secondary education certificate, major in physics and minor in math. I love science and math.

I live in a high mountain valley in far-north Utah.

SETI is a most worthwhile project!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
A friend told me about SETI@Home in 2000, and I started chunking away at it then.

It is terrific being involved in this massive scale computing project. I think it is a wonderful use of those idle CPU ticks!

I am sure that there IS intelligence out there. It is just a matter of time before we learn more about it. The benefits and dangers have already been discussed publically, and I feel that the benefits FAR outweigh the risks.

"Contact" is an enjoyable movie--I recommend it. Believe me, though, that fanatic from Panguitch in the movie does NOT represent the majority of Utahns regarding opinions on ETI!
