Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have no doubt that extraterrestrial life exists. I predict that we will have irrefutable evidence of life before 2030, and in all probability that evidence will be as a direct result of the work of the SETI organisation.

Should we transmit a beacon for others to find ? I think we already emit sufficient noise for others to pick up *if they look in the right place*. The limiting factor is of course the speed at which our 'noise' travels.

If I was going to transmit a beacon, I would of course transmit 'Third stone from the Sun' from 'Are you experienced' by the late, great Jimi Hendrix. Kind of fitting, don't ya think ?

I run SETI@home on a quad power mac and a macbook pro.
I'm a member of the 'BBC' SETI group.
