Personal background

Me:

Student from Colorado Springs, CO. Interests include climbing, backpacking, volleyball, flying, and electronics. Looking forward to attending the United States Air Force Academy in late June, 2002. Currently, I spend time working and promoting my webdesign business, which supports my most expensive habit ever -- flying. I'm a few hours away from my private pilots license and hope to get it before I graduate high school. The picture was taking in Garden of the Gods, perhaps the best nicest bouldering / climbing in the universe -- or at least my backyard.

Computer:

#1 Athlon XP 1800 on an ASUS A7V266-E mobo with a striped RAID. Overclocked to 1.7GHz. Modded Lian-Li PC-68 case.

#2 (soon to be working) Athlon XP 1900 on a ABIT AT7 mobo with striped RAID on 2 WD Special Edition 80GB's. Lian-Li PC-30 case.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

The SETI mission is of utmost importance to the human race. The only way to truly understand something is to compare it to something else. The discovery of extraterrestrial life, how it evolved, and developed into an intelligent species will only help us unravel the secrets of our own past and future.

I think we most definitely should transmit a "hello" signal. Something more powerful and directional than all our radio, tv and radar emissions. It only makes sense that if we're listening for such a signal, we would transmit one as well. The sooner the better as far as that speed of light thing goes.
