I'm a 3d Animator and Animation Teacher living in New York and I'm a computer addict, spending much more time on the computer than a human should. I'm also a living room guitarist. I like almost all kinds of music from blues to jazz to rock.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes I do. I'm not sure if and how we will 'discover' it, there is so much space and so many frequencies that I sometimes wonder if we will find the signal in that haystack. What if they don't use the same radio technology. Maybe they found some communiction methods we haven't discovered yet.
2. We should send beacons and stop the insideous T.V. signals which by now have told all intellegent life out there that we are not worth contacting. We should beacon information that highlights our intelligence and artistic nature.
3. I like the idea of millions of small computers banding together and computing the work for SETI or other large projects.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
