Personal background
I have been a machinist for the past 15 years, 5 of which have been in flight critical commercial and military aircraft manufacture and repair. I am currently employed with Microsoft as a software test engineer, and working my way toward becoming a software test lead/developer. I eventually wil merge my knowlegebase into the field of robotics, focusing on intelligent systems to enhance the human condition.

I am the father of the most amazing person I have ever met, and have the pleasure of spending the rest of my days with my delightfully evol twin who made our daughter possible: BTW ->I am facinated by far too much to jot down here.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Of course ET life exists! We have already discovered it. Viruses,
(DR)NA and other building blocks floating in space. Dangerous... (ADHOC)Comets dust in the guise of leonids etc. give us nifty forms of 'colds' every year. The real danger are the common humans clinging to the supernatural(religions/cults) that portray man as god. Too many people could not handle intelligent ET life being discovered, keeping that in mind, what intelligent ET life would make themselves obvious? To avoid the danger, humanity has a whole lot of growing up to do. Until then, we will have to be the hosts of drifting viruses and bacteria. (Which will only help the pharmaceutical industry ;)
2. Beacons would just add to the cacophony of space, however if you really must send something, send numerical progressions,(primes;factorials.) and include a Rosetta stone in hexadecimal format for the numerical operators. Then add some more complex abstractions like integration, statistics, and geometric progressions to the data-stream. Mathematics is the only thing worth sending.
3. Because it is fun! My views? Why the stinking smell aren't we on Mars yet!! Perhaps the Moon for that matter?! I’m running out of space to make any more opinionated suggestions and you’re doing quite well w/out my 2 cents, so just keep the data coming.
