Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I refuse to believe that, in a universe of the size we seem to believe it is, there isnt any other intelligent life ANYWHERE. based on how mankind has acted in the thousands of years prior to this one, i wouldnt be surprised if another race hadnt already visited and deemed us 'no mans land'. for the time being, i think we need to focus more on sorting ourselves out before we go looking for alien races to destroy (which, lets face it, we seem to be itching to do - we let certain people with itchy trigger fingers rule our countries - and thats on a grand scale. in the unlikely event we ever made contact with another race, we'd wage war in about two and a half days [and im being generous here]).

we live in a world where people of differing religions are completely unable to allow each other to co-exist. i mean, look at the religions that are, even today, persecuted by each other: islam; hindu; judaism; buddhism; paganism in its myriad forms; to name but a few (and lets be honest, we know who the main propagating religion is (christianity).

However, like i said, i do believe there IS life out there, so im perfectly happy (and eager) to aid the cause of searching for signs for said races. Maybe by learning there are other races out there, we will be able to learn to live in peace with our own!
