Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Will we ever travel outside our own solar system? If so, when/how? What would be the benefits/dangers to humanity?
Absolutely. Within the next 50 years. Probably through space travel using a propulsion system not yet even dreamed about. Benefits? Unification of the earth's population into a homogeneous society. Dangers? Unification of the earth's population into a homogeneous society.

2. How would we begin a conversation with an alien intelligence?
Possibly a mathematical representation of the human genome.

3. Why should we seek contact with alien species/cultures?
Curosity...Are we really alone? I don't think so. At this primitive stage in human development we are using the most superior method known to discover other possible lifeforms in our own galaxy as well as beyond.
