Personal background
I'm 39, i'm Computer scientist, and first Civilian Astronaut from Ecuador, ASA/T degree SAAC, i'm primary interested in Astrophysics, Exobiology, Advanced math and Cybernetics, my preferred authors: Kauffman, Smolin, Sagan, Hawkins, Davies, Gardner. I love Star Trek and Star Wars. I was the first Ecuadorian beta tester of the SETI@home program core in late '98 and early '99.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.- I think it exists, i hope it will be discovered via SETI, i think it will change our future for ever, cause it will give us a sense we don't have now, a sense of SPECIES, which i'm sure it will lead to a more united world and all the benefits that comes with that: justice, less differences, less war less economical problems. I think it is necessary for us humans to evolve in to a better species than we actually are.

2.- a message such that should contain a compendium of all our achievements, because our acts defines what we are, also our position relative to some known pulsars or the galactic core.

3.- I run it because i know i'm making history, because of that i'm part of the biggest search ever known to man, and even if we can't be successful, we already won just by unite ourselves and show the world how powerful a dream can be, i should tell my sons and my future grandchildren i was part of the biggest computer in the world, in the biggest quest ever started in mankind's history.

I think the project is doing fine, maybe it needs some more promotion, and getting the NASA and ESA sponsorhsip will give it a big push.

Although i admire Dr. Sagan's work i don't completely agree with his vision of 'good aliens only', i think there should be hostile/conqueror alien societies out there, so we better have good luck the first time otherwise our first contact could with the Borg ;)

Suggestions?, yes, only one: FIND SOMETHING FAST!!!!
