Personal background
I am a Creative Director and Senior Engineer for a start up. I have number of computers at home and I have expressed lots of interest in distributed computing. I thought that joining this network is better than leaving most of my computers running OpenGL screensaver.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Life exists in all forms, and perhaps beyond human imagination. I was a Chemistry major when I was an undergrad in Abilene Christian University. ET may not be composed by the major elements in earth's life form (C, H, O, N), but the fundamental chemistry reaction and physics allow us to imagine that if such communication exists, it could be received in the manner of radio signal.

Yet we lend our luck in an exhausive search taking over time. So one day when our children read the history about the first ET discover, what would they think -- search, coincidence by luck, logic or serendipity? I tend to pick on "serendipity," but I thought lending my computing power would at least shorten the search path.
