Personal background
I am 52 years old, and live with my wife in North London. I am carrying out a PhD degree at University College London (see http://www.davidconway.org) and work part-time as a development aid consultant, mainly in the former Soviet Union.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because it seems to me to be a fascinating example of a way in which the internet can allow individuals from all over the world to contribute information and resources co-operatively to a project which can be of general benefit. Another example, of a completely different nature,(and to which I also contribute) is http://www.findagrave.com, a world-wide listing of the final resting places of notables. Apart from their significant intrinsic merits, sites such as these are I think important staging posts in the evolution of the WWW.
