Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
ET exists. They'll let us know when contact will benefit them, they'll go on with their civilization just fine until then. Hopefully, by then we'll not look for the contact to be a major cultural change, but a nice, serendipitous discovery, perhaps.
I think that all of our RF noise is already a strong enough signal, and is also the reason we have not been contacted: They can and do decode enough to get a good look at where we are.
I run Seti@home because: I'm a member of the Athlonmb.com Seti team, and also, just in case I've got it all wrong... it's a good running benchmark to determine the health of my PC, and nobody is getting rich off of my contribution! |
