| Personal background |
I am 26 and from a small place called Cardigan in Wales. I now live in Wimbledon, London where I am working in an IT job temporarily.
I have just completed 3 years at Plymouth University, studying Electronic Communication Systems and I hope to find a relevant job soon in the satellite or radio astronomy fields, as I have a very keen interest in them.
I run a part time business involving anything to do with satellite tv/weather systems/computers and I also do mobile discos, which relates to another interest of mine, music.
I have always been fascinated with anything to do with space and extra-terrestrial life possiblity and have been running the SETI program for over 2 years on a number of pcs.
My favourite movie has to be 'Contact'. It deals with the subject of what would happen if 'that' signal was received and how human kind would deal with it.
I also have interests in the 'Space Guard UK' project, which deals with the threat of asteroid impact on earth. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
My opinion is that extraterrestrial life does exist and in time to come human kind will, through advances in technology, find out more and more about what is actually 'out there'. I am unsure that it will be in this lifetime, as in my opinion we will find out small amounts of information in large amounts of time.
The benefits are the possible new wealth of knowledge available to mankind, new meaning to life and never again feeling alone in the universe. The dangers are how we would deal with it and the possiblity of war in an extreme cases. Life as we know it could be turned upside down.
I run SETI@home to be a part of the big project and to help as much as possible to find the answer the that big question - 'Are we alone?'
