Personal background |
I'm a Systems Administrator from the UK, working for a regional newspaper.
Currently, four machines contribute to the project, but for the first 18 months (Signed up a couple of days after SETI@Home was open to the Public), I only had a P166 (MMX) which cost me twice the price of my current CPU.
I thought buying that would run Pod (Remember that?, one of the First games to utilize MMX), Yes - At about 15fps. Though I didn't just buy it to play that :). As far as I can remember, that completed units in about 30 hours (On the 1.06 GUI client).
Well, now I've tried a small Linux distro to boot from an LS-120, with wine and the Winnt 3.03 CLI, a .417 angle range unit completes in around 3hrs on my primary machine, Great! |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
ET Life exists, doubtlessly!. But explaining how I feel about ETI and just Space itself, is just something I'll never have enough time to do.
I'm happy about contributing to SETI projects for over three years, and I hope I can keep on doing so until we discover something important. |
