Profile: Mrs Miggins

Personal background
I live in the NW of England, around the shores of Morecambe Bay, but I'm currently in "therapy" at a secret location to help with my "SETIholism". One day soon I hope to be able to see my family again, but until then I have only the memories to keep me sane, that and Olga's "Meatball Suprise"! I'm married with 2 teenage daughters and have a laid back Patterdale Terrier, whose only goal in life is to shred the mail before we get to it! Our latest edition is what can only be described as a "Heinz 57", she is a wonderful dog, on the go 24/7!

My hobbies are astronomy and anything science related, music (anything from Rossini to AC/DC) , cycling, the odd pint with friends and since getting a PC, surfing the net.( that's how I found out about you guys)

I'm part of the Special Needs team at a local High School, in the Learning Support Centre working with students with emotional & behavioural difficulties.

I've always had a fascination about what could be out there in the universe after growing up in the era of the "space race" and seeing Neil Armstrong make his "one small step" on TV. After watching this I always wanted to visit Kennedy for myself. This I finally did in August 2000, the exhibits, especially the Apollo/Saturn 5 Centre, were magnificent, but my 2 daughters found it boring!

A member of "Carolyn's Clinic" which takes the humourous approach to SETI@home...take a look....beats the stink out of chasing WU's!

The glamourous nursing staff will cater to your every whim....come and take a look at the gorgeous Nurse Goodbody to see what you're missing...her thermometer will take your breath away!

It now looks like Olga is bringing in back-up in the shape of sultry Svetlana and not so shapely Wilma....both appear to have hidden agendas!....believe me once seen....you'll realise why they're hidden.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Looking out on a clear winters night its difficult to imagine we're all alone in the universe. We cannot be the only ones with the responsibilty of being the sole caretakers. (we have difficulty at times looking after our own planet).

If there is intelligent life out there, will we ever find it? I don't know. Working with SETI@home could make that happen sooner.

If we do detect a signal - Will they want to talk to us?....I'm not sure....

......... we have enough trouble trusting and communicating with each other never mind a possible superior intelligence

I would like to think that we, as the so called superior intelligence on this planet, could settle our differences and work together, when that time comes, then we will be ready to meet anyone that may "phone home".

ONE WORLD,ONE VOICE...one chance, lets get it right.
