Personal background

I live in Australia in an area called the Blue Mountains which are located in New South Wales. The very State where the pictures of Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon were received July 1969 - Parkes Radio Telescope. I was in the Army when I saw it on TV. The whole Regiment was in shut down mode so that we could watch it live. A footprint on another heavenly body seems to be a long way off at this time.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

This is why I run SETI.

Flowing water on mars appears to to be a reality. Volcanos on titan spewing water and ammonia which flows like lava also appears to be a reality. That is three sources of water so far in one Solar System. Water one of the necessities of life when conditions are right. Life on Earth a coincidence and we got lucky - I don't think so.

For the religious out there somebody told somebody who told somebody who again told somebody that God after creating the whole universe said let there be life on earth (whoever heard those words origially before life was created will always remain a mystery). Now we have sparkles in the night sky of no consequence - what a waste.

Life elswhere in the universe is a reality - I'm sure God is more resoursefull and would not put all eggs in one basket.
