Personal background
I am a 29 year old Medical Administrative Assistant living in SouthWestern Kentucky. I have one child and enjoy most types of music and reading. I especially enjoy horror, fantasy, and classic literature. I spend my free time surfing the web and participating in clubs, and spending time with friends and family.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I believe that there is life somewhere other than Earth but I'm not sure if we will be the ones to make the first discovery. I somehow think that it will be them that are watching for us to be socially and politically ready for approach. The possiblities of unknown volumes of knowledge intrigues me but conversly the chance that not all extraterrestrial life would be friendly should be strongly weighed. I know as humans we sometimes think that we are so far advanced of other Earth life forms but it wouldn't surprise me to find that compared to some others we are considered somewhere along the lines of primates in cognative and sensory abilities.

2. I'm not sure about transmitting to others. It could be beneficial but it could draw attention that is less than benevolent too. If we were to send out a signal beacon I would hope that it would send some of what is best about us as species. The great thinkers and inventors; artists and musicians; and the truly heroic individuals throughout time like Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. and others.

3. I first learned about SETI@home through a club on Yahoo.com, The Cult of Dan.
I thought it sounded interesting and wanted to see for myself exactly how it worked and what it involved. I am still very new the project but hope to learn more as I go along.
