Personal background |
I live in British Columbia, Canada, with my spouse and two dogs (the acquisition of the latter making me into that dreaded character, a middle-aged woman with small dogs; unfortunately, they can be obnoxiously yappy, too!) I have been fascinated by "what's out there" since I was a little kid. I can't believe we're it - if we are, the universe is in big trouble. I watch Star Trek re-runs faithfully (TNG by preference) and believe I was born far too early. If I were rich, I'd sign up to be a space tourist.
I found out about SETI from Tourbus, and have been a processor for a couple of years now, although I haven't done that much - 25 units to date. I'm trying to figure out how to load the program at work, but we've got very tight security when it comes to installing non-official software.
I enjoy reading, ice- and in-line skating, have jsut started running, and I love NYC!!!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I do believe ET life exists, and I think it might well know we exist. I don't believe in alien abduction. I don't think there'll be true contact until we have stopped abusing each other and the planet in the name of various gods, so-called progress, and the almighty dollar (particularly on the North American variety).
I run SETI@home because if it should pick up deliberately manufactured radio signals, it would bolster my hope that there is someone out there. ALso, I love the idea that we can put all this computer equipment to good use in a co-operative way. |
