Profile: Stuart Bevington

Personal background
I am 42 and was born in Southport in the United Kingdom. I spent 22yrs in the Royal Air Force I intended going into some sort of computer work when I left but did not fancy sitting in front of a screen all day so decided to turn my interest in DIY into my job and am now a principal caretaker at a college in Oxfordshire looking after general maintenance. I live with my partner Julia our daughter Lucy and our recently born son Jeremy (JJ).

My main interests are DIY and computers or should I say fixing computers for people who play around in places they should`nt,as the old saying goes(a little knowledge is dangerous).

I am currently researching my family tree so if there are any Bevingtons out there who think they might belong post me a message. I joined SETI@home because most of my relatives are "OUT THERE" so I thought it might make my family tree search easier (only joking Mum).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think there is life out there, however,I think it is not a case of us finding them but more a case of when they WANT us to find them. If I were them watching us and our worldly antics iewars, poverty, pollution, disease, crime, greed the list goes on, I would think twice before knocking on the door and saying hello. I think the danger of discovering other life forms out there is not to us but to them.

I believe we should be transmitting information to whatever is out there but from the wierd and wonderful things I`ve seen on TV that seem to have been sent out via signal or craft it seems to me that most people on earth would not understand them and we come from here. In this day and age I would have thought it would be possible to get humans out there even if it was a one way trip becuase I`m sure given the chance there would be no shortage of volunteers?.

I run SETI@home for the same reason people do the lottery. YOU NEVER KNOW!!.
