Personal background
Greetings,

I am a toy designer living and breathing somewhere within the suburbia surrounding Detroit, Michigan. When I'm not at work or parading around in a large rented chicken costume, my mind frequently ponders the great enigmas of our vast universal cosmic home place. I wonder if creatures on other worlds dress up like lower life forms as I do. I wonder why mayonaise becomes transparent if you leave it out of the fridge too long. There are so many inspired questions with many fanciful theories, but solid facts can be elusive. This is why I have come to this website.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I definitely believe in extraterrestrial life as I am direct proof of it. What I mean to say simply is that "alien" is a matter of perspective. Furthermore, if a bunch of scat throwing primates can evolve into us, then there is hope for life anywhere and everywhere in this grand universe.
Human empathy and it's resulting social behavior is a sub-routine within our DNA program. If there are species on other worlds that have evolved a similar cooperative attitude for survival then perhaps they would be interested to meet us. If they are not "self aware" or sentient, then hopefully they will at least be tasty and have DNA that we can assimilate. Don't be alarmed... nobody is going to eat the aliens... at least not at first... I hope. However, I fear that they would be in danger if our scientists discovered that they produce chemicals within their bodies that can grow hair on balding men or increase sexual desire in human females.
Just to be on the safe side, we should send out a beacon that says... "We are fresh out of water, edible humans, and we are no good as hosts for egg incubation, please raid these resources from other worlds. Thank you."
I run SETI@home in the hopes that I could one day communicate with beings from other worlds to see what they do with their leisure time. I also think it would be cool to have a pulsar named after me.
