Personal background
Hello to all. Allow me to introduce myself. I am a 56 year old retired Deputy Sheriff located in the heart of West Virginia. I have always been interested in the unknown and paranormal happenings. As a youngster I had the privledge of knowing and working with Grey Barker. But that is another story.
Even though at this time I am not active on the air I do hold an Advanced Class Amateur Radio License. My call is KD8MJ and have been licensed since 1975. I love to ride touring motorcycles throughout this beautiful country which our wonderful and brave troops protect 24/7 allowing me and you to have the freedom to do so. God Bless them one and all. I wish I could personally thank each and every one.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes I do think extraterrestrial life exists simply because I want it to. I think it is necessary to the balance of the universe. One would have to be pretty nieve to think that we are alone. I don't know, as does anyone else, when humans will "discover" it but I do believe it will happen. As to [how] it will happen....I really don't think it will be via radio contact. Why do I say that? Well, to me radio contact as we know it is likened to trying to yell something important to someone on the other side of a football stadium with everyone cheering. You may hear it but it would really be a difficult task.
I believe that contact will be made through a more advanced means such as "remote viewing and telepathy." Those who are capable of such things could communicate across the football stadium or the vastness of space irregardless of interference or distractions of any sort.
I don't know about the benefits or dangers of such an amazing thing because I haven't thought about those aspects yet. I do think the beacon idea is a good one cause we can use all the help we can muster. As for the information..I think that "they" already know all they need to know about us.
I just started to run SETI@home because a friend asked me to and I consider it very important. I am sure that SETI@home is going to be an invaluable asset to the community in resolving the age old question of "Are we alone?"
