I'm a neurobiologist with a long-time interest in astronomy. I've been a part of the SETI@home effort since 1999 when the fastest computer we had in the lab was a 66 MHz machine! My how things have changed. :-)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Since I have an intimate understanding of the need to crunch through massive volumes of data through our work, I wanted to lend support to the SETI@home effort with some of our high-end machines that get little day-to-day user traffic.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
