There most definately is extra-terrestrial life, there can be no doubt. Whether it is detectable for us and whether we'll ever find out is another debate, we are but a tiny speck in a vast universe, so don't get all wound up if something is found. But don't give up hope yet, there are projects under way such as SETI to find them!
