Personal background
Hi! I'm Crystal. I'm Canadian, eh? I work for a courier company as an Administrative Assistant, but am trying to become a local 911 operator because I want to be more active in my 'helping people' role. I'm 30 years old, and live in Vancouver, BC, on the beautiful 'WET' coast of Canada. :) Yes, it rains all the time, and NO, I don't have any sled dogs, and I left my igloo in the Yukon, ok? It was too cramped and the stickpins kept falling out of the walls when I tried to put up my posters. ANYWAY! I have a few body piercings, and no tattoos, my hobbies include computers, video games, astronomy, movies with friends, and Dungeons & Dragons. YES WE STILL PLAY THAT! I'll never lose touch with my roots. Enough about me. On to my SETI opinions!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think ET's exist? This is a booming yes. How will we discover it? Goodness. I don't know...we'll probably have someone crash land again and this time it will be in the middle of a city and won't be so easy to cover up. I think that when the ET's come, that the world will be shook off their feet, because mankind is so concieted to think that they are the only sentient life in this vast and boundless universe. I think that there should be information transmitted out into space, because I'm sure there are others out there who already have the ability to travel to other planets on a regular basis, and maybe if they thought we were somewhat intelligent or sentient, they might come visit. It makes me wonder what the ET's who have been here think of us. Are we all back country yokles who don't know a probe from a laser? It makes me wonder if it's something like Star Trek...that they can't contact us until WE advance far enough. I know that in the past 100 years, we have advanced soooooo far, but as of yet, it's not far enough, obviously. :)

Why do *I* run SETI@home? Because I believe there IS intelligent life out there, and I would love to be able to say I was a part of the discovery. Even if it's only by utilizing my computer while I'm not. As of late I've been more into video games anyway (got some REAL good ones from my sister) and I figure my computer might as well be doing something while I'm not doing anything with it! Yay for multi-tasking! I think the SETI project is brilliant. I'm so happy that there are others out there who truly believe there are other life forms out there in the universe. I've got my own theory when it comes to the aliens, and that I will keep to myself. I have no suggestions for the project. I think it will take time and effort, both of which SETI has. Thank you SETI for allowing me a chance to help out in any meager way I can!
