Profile: James C. Field

Personal background
Recently upgraded my PC to a duo notebook. Been a non-participant for a few years due to resource limits on my olde PC. [dated May 2007]

Happy to be back, happy also to see both processors being utilised on my shiny new brain box.

About me: (yawn...)
semi-retired ex mainframe computer guy laterly teacher of comp. sci. now odd community related jobs.

Interested in cetaceans of Cardigan Bay (UK), Geology, AI, IT, and ET(serious only).

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) I firmly believe there is some intelligence 'out there'. The space between the stellar planetry sytems is so great that our tiny brain-box computers should be marshalled together (a kind of micro-intelligance in persuit of a greater intelligence).

2) SETI is a noble and selfless endevour that elevates its participants by lifting their eyes from the mud to the skies.

3) More info and less showmanship in the moving graphics. My machine is more interested in work than play!
