Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
For humans to think that they are the only ones in this vast galaxy is contemptious and arrogant. This great endeavor to seek out life and to make contact is the next step of evolution for humankind. I think the overall benefits outweight the dangers overall. Humankind needs external interaction from other planetary systems in order to expand into the galaxy.

Humans have been broadcasting signals for many years. I think a permenant message that is boosted by a satalite system into the terrahertz bands would be the way to go. This would allow our signals the power to reach potentially inhabitated planets faster than the kilohertz or megahertz bands. We should transmit a general overall welcome message and invite any that can communicate with us or visit us.

The computer power that is available now days should greatly assist Seti. I think Seti has the right idea. Seti's idea that the search should go on without goverment interferrance is the way to go. This would enable the general public to know what is going on.
