Personal background
I'm a 22yr old techie from Southend-on-Sea in the UK,
I've been working for a large IT Services Company for nearly 6 years, the last 2 of which as an Oracle Database Administrator.
I'm always looking for new opportunities so if you think I sound useful then drop me an email on mailto:tony@acid-t.com

Being a newbie to seti I haven’t completed many work units yet, but that should change soon as I currently work away from home and I tend to leave my pc on and just let it work for seti when I’m not there.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Answers.
1. The universe is so huge that I don’t see how there couldn’t be life somewhere out there.

2. I'm not so sure transmitting a beacon for others to find is a bad idea, but we probably make enough noise as it is!
Also, a question a friend once raised was 'what about if ET isn’t a friendly race?'.
I would like to hope that any race advanced enough to explorer the galaxy would be need to be peaceful enough to spend the time and effort on space travel research, well that’s what I hope anyway...

3. The results might be good for humanity, also it helps my conscience spend all that money on huge computing power and then only use it about 5% of the time!

One of my favourite quotes:
"Lets hope there’s intelligent life somewhere up in space, because there’s bugger all down here on earth" - Monty Python, comic genius
