Personal background
Just wanted to catch up to the other guys at work. Then decided to give the servers a challange. I have all the servers running the seti command line analyser under Windows 2k & XP, and also Redhat.

Some performance info if you are interested ....

A P4 2.4Ghz machine with 1gb Ram & Hyperthreading, should process a result in approx 3 hours.

A P4 1.5Ghz machine with 512Mb Ram, should process a result in approx 3 hours, 40 Min.

A P3 900Mhz machine with 1gb , should process a result in approx 6 hours.

And finally a dual P3 600Mhz machine with 1gb , should process a result in approx 10 hours.

For all the P4's and the dual processor P3 we run multiple command line clients.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes well I think there is something out there. This could be because I have watched too many stary shows (Star Trek, Stargate, & Star Wars....)

My current challenge is to get to the 5000 units before the new client comes out. The we will reasses if we would like to continue (although the responese from the newsgroups has not been that great).

Cheers!
