Personal background
I'm on the west coast of Canada. Can't imagine living anywhere else. Have been a science fiction fan since reading Heinlen, Blish and many more. At this time I have committed 2 computers to run seti in the background and occasionally overnight.

Currently trying to finalize course selections for the coming fall.

I'm 46 and have built and/or altered my computers. I plan on adding 2 more to my home network.

Yes, I have some spare time. I have a music broadcast (legal), and enjoy making people smile.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I feel there likely exists other ? intelligent ? life forms somewhere " out there ". I would only challenge the arrogance of people who believe otherwise. My idea of other life forms is more human than many myths of beings past/present/future.
If SETI confirms something? a contact? or something intelligent, it could only improve this planet, helping to bring people together, perhaps, feeling a little smaller, in particular some leaders of industry and government. People and organizations that often act omnipotent without the best interests of life here.
I run SETI@home because I can. Not because of any potential result.
