Personal background
I live on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. I have been an amateur radio operator
since the age of 13. My callsign is AB6Z. I operate the ab6z.ampr.org internet
gateway for South Mississipp and the New Orleans area. I love homebrewing, DX
and digital radio.

My son, who is quite gifted wants to be an astrophysicist. You can read a little
about him on our webpage http://www.okelly.org. In 4th grade, he tested out
at grade 17. We are seeking mentors for him... If you know someone please
contact us. We became interested in the SETI project via the movie "Contact"
and an article in QST magazine. We are now just using our computers to process
data but would like to build and operate our own ground station. Any help is
welcomed.

I plan to use an ICOM R-7100/LNA to receive. We are looking for a surplus
3m or larger dish. We will build our feedhorn and use a sound card in a
dedicated computer to process the data.

I can be contacted at my office 228 688-5295

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. No, I don't believe that there is extraterrestrial life but my mind is open
to change. I believe that SETI is great way to look for other life in the universe.
I believe we should be looking, exploring and searching.

2. Yes, we should be beaconing a signal. I don't think that the message has to
be anything really sophisticated (ie. binary numbers) but perhaps simply the
word peace or the word God in the major langueges of the world.

3. I think answer #1 states my views, but I would like to see a method where all
the amateur ground stations could be linked together collectively. I think the
software should be standardized and given away to anyone willing to put up and
maintain a receiving station. I would like SETI@HOME to put our news letter as
to status and processing efforts of all the volunteers.
