Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
#1: Yes I think its possible that in an infinite universe there exists extraterrestrial life. How could it not? I belive that humans are closer to the answer then they think to finding out what is really out there. How will we discover them, i think we allready know them, its just a matter of them reveiling themselves. With any new discovery, there are good and bad ramifications. Are they friendly, or hostile? thats what it breaks down to.

#2: I think we should transmit a beacon. It would be a good thing to try and communicate with our neighbors. however it could also be a double edged sword. What if it attracts the wrong kind of attention. (ex. aliens in Independance Day, and yes, even Mars Attacks). If indeed we did send out a transmission, it should be filled with the positive side of humanity (peace, love, etc...). Who wants to befriend a species that is hostile to everything it doesn't understand.

#3: I was first Exposed to SETI through a game called Civilization 2. Yes, a video game. In my conquest to dominate a Computer generated world, i discovered a projected called SETI. After having listened to a late night radio program, I once again was exposed to SETI. So having finally desided it was time, i looked it up on the internet. And here i sit, scanning away at eronious radio waves from the stars. :D I think its a great project. I hope that some day my computer will discover all the secrets :D
