Personal background
I'm from Grosseto a Tuscany's town close to the Tirreno sea in Italy; I'm 53 and I work as a manager of telecommunication department of Grosseto City Council.
My job is mainly about data base systems, but in 1995 I developed the first Internet Service in Grosseto so the Municipality became the first ISP in the town (www.gol.grosseto.it), nowadays about five thousands families use our access service to surf the Net.
Since 2001 I have been working, togeter with 3 friends, on a data base project: management of sport events (particulary in athletics); the European Junior Championships 2001, which took place in Grosseto, was managed using that software, at the moment we are using our application for the European Cup Florence 2003 and we will use it again for the World Junior Championships in Athletics that will take place in Grosseto in 2004.
Apart from that I love looking at the stars.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
In my opinion extraterrestrial life do exist but it will not be easy at all (maybe impossible) to find out some clues of that; anyway we must do our best in listening to the sky and i'm proud to be a part of it.
Even though we will never discover proof of alien life, i think we will learn a lot looking at the stars.
