Personal background
I am a freshman (as of the 2002-2003 term) attending Oregon State University and I'm studying Mechanical Engineering. Not much else to say.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have actually no clue whether or not aliens exist. I am doubtful, but on the other hand, it'll be really scary if no other life exists out there. Lonely in fact.

On the other hand, out of the almost infinite planets that are out their, at least ONE of them could be similar to Earth and therefore support life as we know it. We may never know though because the universe is just too big for us to explore it ourselves. We must rely on projects like this one. :P

As for what should we transmit? I say something that is mathmatically based so that the recievers understand that it's not just a random occurence.

I am running SETI@home because I thought it'd be a good use of my computer's fast processor while it is not being fully loaded.
