| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I came across the SETI website in January, 2001, and soon started crunching WUs on my Pentium 133MHz processor with the screensaver version, because I thought that this was really worthwhile doing because it was helping out a good cause while my computer just sat there with nothing to do. In April, I got a new machine and started to work on WUs on that too, with the screesaver version. Then I came across a team I really liked, Broadband Reports Team Starfire(http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/seti), and joined them. There's a really friendly bunch of people there, and are always willing to help out others in the group with problems. I learned to work on WUs faster with the CLI and got the utilities that came with it.
I think that this SETI@Home project is really great and has done a really good job.
My opinion is that soon, we will find a really weak signal coming from the ETs, and perhaps meet up with them. |
