Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that somewhere there exists other intelligent life in this universe. The first contact with any such beings will likely be using some form of radio communication.

I don't think that sending a beacon would be a good idea. It's better to listen and see if we can detect something else first, then choose to make contact.

I run SETI because I believe in the power of distributed processing and the good uses it can be put to. I tihnk the project is a great idea. Even if nothing is ever found, it has made an excellent example of the potential distributed computational power that exists and how to harness that power.
