Personal background
I am a 47 year old Canadian. I am always interested in anything which requires thought. Video games don't cut it. I have spent my limited existence questioning the norm. Considering the improbable. Giving reasons for the impossible. I am a hovercraft pilot, a Captain, and am licenced to operate any vehicle allowed on the public roadways. I guess that covers occupation and hobbies. Most of what we know about our Universe is based on a few good ideas, and our attempt to put what we find into the context of those ideas. What if one or two, or five of those original good ideas were wrong? It has happened before. The earth is not flat. Jonathan
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe there is life out there. If we find it ,it will be in the microbial form. If we find intelligent life, other than our own, it will be right after they find us. A beacon? Our Earth must absolutely humm throughout the cosmos. It has for about fifty years, unfortunately we don't know anyone within fifty light years of here. If someone took off from Earth at twice the speed of light and travelled for fifty one years, then stopped and looked back, could he turn on his Sony and watch I Love Lucy re-runs? Could he phone home and tell me he saw those re-runs? No. I will have been dead for about one hundred years. Any thing Seti finds will be ancient, but I am willing to help find that WOW. Jonathan
