Personal background |
Hey there, my name is Mat, I'm 21, I'm a Sales Professional for Telstra (the largest phone company in Australia) and I love computers. I discovered SETI@home back in 1999, and used it a lot that year and in 2000. I dropped off a bit in the last couple of years, but after getting an email from SETI@home, it prompted me to start using it again. I live in Perth, Western Australia and I love it here (though I've never been any where else to base my comparisons :P). I'm single, I have a dog named Tasha and I love playing computer games. Go Starcraft and Warcraft III!!! :) |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I think extraterrstrial life exists, and I think SETI@home is the way we are going to find out about it. The benfits of such a discovery are (obviously) endless. The fact that sharing of information between two inter stellar life forms could be possible, is simply amazing. I don't think there would be any danger in such a discovery...the movies of interstellar warfare and invasion are too hyped up I think ;)
I run SETI@home because I love being a part of something so big. The amount of computer processing time that has gone into the project is astounding.
The only suggestion I could think about improving the SETI@home program, is simplifying the data displayed in it, I see all these tables, and graphs, and data, but I have no idea what it means!!! |
