Profile: Carl Carmoney

Personal background
I'm a Systems Analyst who enjoys Mountain Biking, caving, mountain climbing, repelling, biology and technology related documentation.

I enjoy comedies and political science - though I'm no expert.

I'm saving up to by a good telescope because the one I had as child was donated to charity. If I'm gonna get one as an 'adult' I'm going to buy one with all, ok, a few, the bells and whistles.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I most certainly believe in ET. Is he flying around in platteresque saucers beaming little subordinate ETs to Earth? I don't think so. But nature, and nature exists further out than our puny little planet, has shown that even on Earth strange life-forms thrive in atmospheres previously thought too hostile for any nitrogen/oxygen using creatures to live in.

I think we need to discover alien transmissions, like we're trying to do now, and interpret those as best we can before we go and shoot ourselves in the proverbial foot by directing et-mail into deepspace.

SETI@home? Just to be a part of something that is a much greater effort than could be accomplished by ourselves.
