Personal background
Hi,

My name is Karsten. I live in Denmark, Northern Europe on a planet called earth (by humans, who knows what others call it?). I study physics and astronomy at the university of aarhus.

Apart from thinking about the big questions in life I also like to play chess(dansih 3. division), relax with friends and family, watch and read science fiction, play with computers and such.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1)
I find the universe facinating and the thought that other civilisations might exist is exciting. But I am not sure we will ever know. Anyway the project also conserns other astronomical issues. Therefore I will support it and try to learn more about it.

If we were to contact other lifeforms there is no telling what would happen. Much would depend on the intensions on the parties (us and them). Even if we would only know that there are others out there, without any hopes of ever meeting them, the religions on earth would have to be updated.

2)
We should transmit a signal that we are here, some basic information about humans, but the question is how to send it. How will others be listening?

3)
I support this project because it allows us humans to dream a little and at the same time gives answers to other astronomical issues. I hope to be part of this project myself one day.
