I was raised in northern California mostly around my father's family who are Romany/Gypsy so I had quite a cool and unique upbringing. I am a gay man who is a high priest in a small occult religion. I love to hike, play video games, play baseball and football, and listen to a large variety of music. I am an extroverted, extremely social person.

I have long believed that it would be arrogant to think that this vast universe was created (whether by natural process or some deity) just for mankind on Earth. Statistically speaking there should be plenty of inhabited worlds out there that are at various stages either similar in age to ours or much older or younger. Whether or not they've visited Earth, I cannot say. I'm not even sure if it's possible or if they'd be inclined to visit Earth if it is possible.
One thing I do know, though, is that somewhere, one of these civilizations (be they more or less advanced than us or on par with our development) might be using radio signals to communicate and that it might be possible to pick up on one or more of these transmissions. This is why I gladly joined SETI@Home when I first heard about it back in 1999. I am glad to be able, today, to commit a much more advanced computer to the task compared to the box I was using back at the beginning. Like probably everyone who uses this program, I would love it if my computer is the one to find and process this "golden signal." However, I'd be almost as happy just knowing it was found by anyone and what it says. |
