Personal background
I'm 34 going on 21, I live in the UK, I like drinking, clubbing, movies (especially Jay and Silent Bob stuff), all sorts of music, from jazz to dance.

I'm a systems developer on HP UNIX platforms for a large company (300k employee's) in the UK. Too much work at the moment, so not much time to party, but that should change in the next month or so.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think extraterrestrial life exists? I think you'd have to be very naive to think it doesn't.

I think we'd have to find it, because if there is intelligent life out there they'd know to stay well clear of us, as a race we don't have a particularly good reputation when it comes to contact with seemingly alien species (Africa, the America's etc.)

I thing the discovery of life elsewhere, especially intelligent life, would do us some good; as a race, let us know that we are not alone out here and that we're not necessarily the 'top dog' anymore.

It might also give us a much needed shot in the arm to actually do something with ourselves as a race, get out there, become pioneers and discoverers once again, build some off world colonies etc. Rather than just sitting in our own little back yard screwing up the only world we currently have due to outright greed, not that I'm bitter or anything ;-)
