I find it doubtful that we are alone and only good can come from finding other life---even if it is hostile. The possible advances in health and technology are fantastic.
We need to let them know we are here. A sequence of prime numbers is all that we need to broadcast.

I think that perhaps we may be overlooking signals that may be sent from an alien perspective, i.e., we are looking for signals from a human perspective, of what we would send. |
