Personal background
What I believe: I am a computer electronics technician who believes that there is more to our existance than meets the eye. Anyone who thinks that earth holds the only life that there is and ever will be is very closed minded and unintelligent.

My equipment: I have 7 systems that are running seti@home. Most are old Pentium's that take about 80 hours to complete a unit of data. However my two faster systems can crunch a unit each in less than 24 hours. My file server Pentium MMX 200Mhz w/72MB Ram is running seti@home 24/7/365, and my other 8 systems run it when I am using them or have them idling. To be more specific here is my equipment:

1.) Pentium I 75 Mhz 48 MB Ram (Win 95)
2.) Pentium I 100 Mhz (w/customized 120Mhz over-clock by push button) 48MB Ram (Win 98)
3.) Pentium I 200 Mhz MMX 64MB Ram (Win NT 4)
4.) Pentium I 200 Mhz MMX 72MB Ram (Win 98, file server)
5.) Pentium II 366Mhz 192MB SDRam (Laptop)
6.) Pentium III 733Mhz 256MB SDRam (Win 2000, My Coding Machine)
7.) Pentium IV 2.0 Ghz 768MB DDR Ram (Win XP Pro, My Gaming Machine)

** Soon I hope to piece together a dual-processor 933Mhz Pentium III system running Win 2000 and 512MB Ram to see how fast it will crunch the seti@home units. And I also have a spare crappy 733Mhz celeron CPU that will crunch data faster than a Pentium 1 and I will bring online when all the pieces and parts come together.

SORRY NO PICTURES: But just imagine all of these systems running on my network in the confined space of my 8 x 6 office. Not much room to move around!!! Ha Ha

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Q & A Session:

1.) Answer: I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists. I think that we will either discover it by accident of stumbling across it or they may make contact with us anytime in the future. On this topic I believe that if we do find an extraterrestrial RF signal it will be one that is encoded and jumps frequency in either an algorithmic way or in a clock-work fashion. So you would not have a constant broadcast on say 14.789 GHz, but the signal would have to be pieced together and compiled as a whole from hundreds of thousands of frequency jumps. Then once we compile the short transmission segments from all of these frequencies we may still need to find a way to decode the message that is embedded in the transmission.(This technology would be one that is highly advanced and would give the ability to communicate from point A to point B in a secure and simultaneous RF usage manner to where other transmissions would not interfear with the message. And multiple users could use the same RF bands without cross talk.) The benefits could be that we could get assistance from them to correct all the pollution and destruction to our planet. The dangers would be extraterretrial diseases accidently wiping our planet clean of life, or become slaves for a higher race, or exterminated like a disease to keep us from spreading our destructive behavior throughout the universe, or wipe us out to capture our planet for their needs.

2.) Well I had to laugh when I read this one...There is no choice in the matter. We have been sending a RF beacon for about 100 years now. Even though the signal is probably wiped out within the first light year of distance from background radiation because the amplitude of our transmissions are weak. One reason why we probably will not get intended contact by extraterrestrial life is because of the RF transmissions of the last 100 years depicting death, destruction, and all the turmoil our world has been in.
