Personal background
Hi there, i'm a student from London, but studying in Bristol, UK that is. I'm twentyone, and studying Computing for real time systems and UWE Bristol. When it come to things like seti, i have to be invovled. I've alway been fancinated with outerspace, i think i always will be, prehaps it's all the sci-fi i watched and read as a child, but it has alsways held a mystery that i wanted to discover. Favorite film, Starwars, of course!! and any other sci flick, I'm actually a jedi master as well, my officail religion is Jedi, even though i'm not a practcing one. Those of you that filled out the british censos know what i'm on about...
Anyway, i also enjoy rugby, skiing, surffing(virtual) and also practically any sport. I love movies and going to the cinema, also going out with mates down the pub/club, pretty much everything.
At the moment i'm on my placement year of my degree and working as a Developer and database designer, and pretty anything else they can find me to do...
It's good, and i'm enjoying it. I'm hopeing to go travelling after Uni, Then get a real job(DOH!) but who knows, (Ideally, i'd love to work as a programmer, systems maintianer at some sort of reseach facillity, space orrientated would be fantastic).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have always though it would be very ignorant to think we were the only life in the universe. I'm not sure if we consider the possiblity in the right way, we always seem to think of life in our own boundries, but "life" is still a very abstract term. We define lfe in many ways, "I think, therefore i am", famous quote by decarte, i know,(or was it popeye? [thanks grant/naylor]). but life can range from us, to single celled organisms. And the chance of having the right balance of elements in one place, to create the right habbitat is small. So extra terrestrial "Life" is a VERY small posibilty, but no less than the possibility life on this planet had. But Intelligent life, theres another kettle of fish(what fish? =o) ) I mean the fact we're the only family of animals on the rock who evoveled this way(as in the primates), into communicating tool using thinkers!, begs to think, is it possible to have happend out there? who knows, but as humans have always pushed the boundries, both physically and mentally, we should do no less. What we may or may not come across no one can say( Even though hollywood would like to think they could! =o) ) but as a evolving species we should do our upmost to be ready, and play our part. And i will try to do no less,,,

When i came across seti, i imediately loved the idea, because my way of thinking about such things was similer. I hope that more will join us to help monitor the universe, to be bold adventurares, boldly going where no one has any idea where we are ....or what we're doing,=o)
but just to be of an assistants would be a great part to play. To Ask the question is half the answer,,,,
