Personal background
I've been a member of seti for a few years now. The project is still facinating and continues to amaze me. I am living in San Diego,Ca.. I have built my on puter from the ground up and have enjoyed doing so. I have always enjoyed the study of Astronomy and the related. My work as a electrical tech has placed me in the center of technoligy and development. It has been most satisfying. I enjoy all of star treck and can visualize mankind being there some time in the future. We as intelligent beings have made some outstanding leaps and bounds in such a short time. To be apart of the SETI program is most satisfying, knowing that in some small way I am contributing to the science's. If we all contribute in some fashion to the search, one day we all can smile and say "I told you so".
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been on the planet for a few years, and in that short time span have come to the conclusion that we are not alone. It's obvious that as massive and vast as the cosmos are and with all that mankind has for resources to observe and listen with, only a fool would think otherwise. We have always been (its in our geans) creatures of exploration and discovery. I can not fatham that we are alone amongest all this vastness. Should we discover intellagent life and it be fisable to comunicate, yes we should make every effort but be wise and cautious in our endevor to do so. In the event that we discover or that contact be made (by whom ever) it would be a giant leap and no doubt would have positive and negative results, but one thing for certain "we would not be alone". I don't have any suggestions at the moment, but for now will just observe and be happy with what I'm contributing and hope it will help further our advancement in a positive direction. SETI is the right aproach and there may well be a SETI on another world. "Hmmmm"... It would seem that as old as the cosmos is that many have come and gone and many have yet to arrive. I'm sure in time I'll have some ideas on transmission and possibly what might be said, but I feel there are those who already know what will be sent and said. Thank God for SETI, how boring it would be without it.
